This week was Active Week and we got off to a great start on Monday morning with games and dance in the yards and classroom before the start of school. We then had Gymnastics with Colm for all classes in the halla. Wellie throwing took place during lunch times and some classes also had extra games in the hall and yard. Tuesday again began with morning exercises followed by Basketball with Michael Marshall, Gaelic with Tom O’ Neill and Rugby with Eugene McCarthy. On Wednesday we began the day with WOW. Well done to everyone who took part! Mr. Murphy and Jacqui began the Sciath na Scol training after school in Shanbally with Fourth and Fifth Classes On Thursday our Junior Classes had obstacle courses with members of the Parents’ Association. Many thanks to Deirdre O’ Brien, Marlynn Headworth and Claire Browne for giving so generously of their time and to Joanne Power and Aoife McCarthy for their help in organising the event. The older children then headed off to the park for a Tug of War organised by Mr. Murphy. The week finished on Friday with Sport for all Day beginning with Irish Dancing for our Junior Classes. The Senior Classes headed off to the Golf club and the Junior Classes used the yards and the halla for lots of fun and games including egg and spoon races, sack races, wheelbarrow races and three legged races. We were blessed with glorious sunshine and a great time was had by all. Míle buíochas to all the teachers for organising the activities and making the week so much fun. Keep active, keep healthy!
