Active Week

This week was Active Week and we got off to a great start on Monday morning with games and dance in the yards and classroom before the start of school. We then had Gymnastics with Colm for all classes in the halla. Sixth Class headed off to a Basketball Blitz in Riverstick where they had a great time competing against Kinsale N.S. Wellie throwing took place during lunch times and some classes also had extra games in the hall. Tuesday again began with morning exercises followed by Basketball with Michael Marshall and Irish Dancing for Senior Infants, First and Second Classes. On Wednesday we began the day with WOW. Well done to everyone who took part! Third, Fourth, Fifth and Sixth Classes had Tag Rugby with Finnbarr O’ Regan, Secretary of the South Munster Rugby Sub-Committee and his friend Matt. The children then headed off to the park for a Tug of War organised by Mr. Murphy. Well done to team ‘Wales’ who won the Junior Competition and Team ‘USA’ who won the Senior Competition. On Thursday we had a great active assembly with First Class leading us  in ‘Just Dance’ ! Go raibh maith agat, Ms. Ní Bhéara! Sixth Class headed to the tennis club for some practice. Third, Fourth, Fifth and Sixth Classes later had a frisbee tasting session with Donal Murray and his team. The children enjoyed themselves immensely! The week finished on Friday with Sport for all Day. It began with obstacle courses for Junior Infants, Senior Infants, First Class and Second Class organised by the Parents’ Association. Our thanks to Hilda O’ Flynn, Margaret Quane, Elaine McSweeney and Marilyn Headworth for giving so generously of their time. Gaelic followed for Fourth Class. Due to poor weather our trip to the Golf Club was cancelled but activities continued in the yard and in the halla.  Míle buíochas to all the teachers for organising the activities and making the week so much fun. Keep active, keep healthy!
