Our first ever Arts Week was a great success. Thanks to our Student Council for a terrific idea. We had a fantastic lego display on Wednesday which show cased the creativity of all our students. Finding winners proved to be extremely difficult. Well done to Corey Browne (J. Infs.), Ruth Thomas (S.Infs.), Tony Geraghty (First Class), Phoebe Kelleher (Second Class), Maya Coughlan (Third Class), Kara Dunne, Ríona Casey and James Desmond (Fourth Class) and Emily O’ Flynn and Joy Desmond (Fifth Class). Thanks to Terri Fitzgerald who came in for Art Classes with Fourth, Fifth and Sixth Classes. She also made a start on our new mural and we are looking forward to seeing the final results…. Our ‘Draw/ Make a Bike’ Project again show cased the work of our talented pupils. (See National Bike Week Post) First Class put on a tin whistle performance and experimented with a variety of musical instruments! The Student Council Junior Invent Competition was very exciting. There were some very innovative ideas! In Fifth Class first prize went to Lauren Bradley and Emma Murphy with their model trampoline fly and second place went to Jessica Levis and Abi Roche with their support robot. In Sixth Class first place with to Aoibhe Humphries and Lauren McSweeney with their very impressive and well presented LA Beauty pen and second place went to Sally O’ Flynn and Doireann Kelly who came up with the idea of a slipway helper and gave a powerpoint presentation. Sixth Class put the finishing touches to our school song and we look forward to singing it at our final assembly. There was a lot of drama to be seen in all the classrooms and the hall was beautifully decorated during the week with a variety of art projects on display. The Student Council also published the fifteenth issue of the SBN Catchup with an annual! Well done to all for a great Arts Week celebration!
