Deirdre Clune M.E.P. paid a visit to us today for European Day. Deirdre was invited as part of the Blue Star Programme. The aim of this programme is to foster better knowledge and understanding of the European Union and how it affects our lives amongst Irish primary pupils through classroom projects and activities. To complete the Blue Star Programme, Fifth Class learned about the EU, its history, geography and cultural aspects. They, along with the whole school, completed projects on the different EU countries. Deirdre was greeted by Junior and Senior Infants, waving EU and Irish Flags. The whole school then did a handshake – our version of the Mexican wave!! Deirdre then had a question and answer session with Fifth and Sixth Classes and went to taste foods from different European countries which had been baked by Fifth Class. Deirdre had high praise for how much Scoil Barra Naofa has embraced the EU and she really enjoyed her visit. Míle buíochas to Ms. Kelly and Fifth Class for all their hard work preparing for this special day.
