Our Flag Ceremony was held today. Lieutenant Barrett and Petty Officer Prendergast from the navy along with Trooper O’ Hara from the army visited Scoil Barra Naofa to present us with our 1916 Commemoration flag. They were warmly welcomed by Daniel Thomas and Kara Dunne from the Student Council. On behalf of the school, Penny Foy from Junior Infants accepted the flag and Jack Hallissey from Sixth Class read the 1916 Proclamation with Sgt. Prendergast. Lieutenant Barrett gave us some interesting information about the origins of the flag and the important work that our military personnel do all over the world. This day was a very special one for all of us in Scoil Barra Naofa as we look forward to the 2016 celebrations.
