A big thank you to Joy Desmond in Sixth Class for organising a visit of her Uncle John, his sign language interpreter Siobhán and her Granny Jo. Sixth Class had been speaking about sign language and John kindly came in and demonstrated for the class and was an excellent teacher. With the aid of Siobhan, he also answered questions posed by the children. Joy’s Granny spoke about John’s diagnosis and schooling. They gave us all an excellent insight into what it is like to be deaf and how important communication is. It was a really interesting and informative lesson. Go raibh math agaibh!
