Sixth Class had a very interesting and enjoyable guided tour of Cork City today. They learned the history of the English Market and how Cork business depended on the 3 B’s- butter, beef and beer. They noted the listed buildings of the city, the architecture and style of buildings. They visited the North Channel of the Lee, the Firkin Crane and Shandon. They visited the Hugenot/French Quarter of the city and explored the Port of Cork. They enjoyed at trip to the Butter Museum and finished off with a visit to Linehan’s – the oldest and the only remaining sweet manufacturer in Cork city, undoubtedly the highlight of the tour!!
